Elmvale Fall Fair – A Hidden Jewel in Ontario’s Agricultural Calendar
Project Overview
At WeGo, we are honoured to highlight our partnership with the Elmvale Fall Fair (elmvalefallfair.com), an annual agricultural event hosted by the Flos Agricultural Society in Elmvale, Ontario. The project came about through an introduction by Matt Garwood, who connected us with the society’s members. Together, we replaced an existing site that was no longer serving its membership, its exhibitors, or the general public effectively — rescuing what could be preserved and building a modern platform worthy of this remarkable fair.
Client Collaboration
We work closely with Pat Leonard, the fair’s secretary, who is our primary point of contact throughout the year for keeping content current and accurate. The society’s members have been engaged and collaborative partners throughout, and their deep commitment to the fair’s traditions and community is evident in everything they do. Doug attends the fair personally every Thanksgiving weekend — camera in hand — which keeps our finger firmly on the pulse of what makes this event so special.
Design and Development
Agricultural fair websites serve a specific and important purpose: they are the primary information source for the general public seeking attraction and event details, and for exhibitors and competitors looking for prize book information covering Homecraft and agricultural competitions. With over 30 years of experience working with agricultural societies across Ontario and Quebec, WeGo is uniquely positioned to understand and deliver on these needs.
The site was built on our WordPress technology stack and features a comprehensive suite of contact forms tailored to the fair’s many registration needs — including exhibitor and vendor registration, ambassador program applications, a general contact form, and quick contact forms embedded throughout the site for easy access at every turn.
Challenges and Solutions
The predecessor site was falling short on multiple fronts, leaving both members and exhibitors without the tools and information they needed. The rescue and redevelopment addressed this head-on, producing a site with clear information architecture, purpose-built registration workflows, and regularly refreshed content that keeps visitors coming back year-round.
Results and Impact
Fresh imagery plays a significant role in the site’s ongoing appeal. As the fair’s photographer on record, Doug captures the event each Thanksgiving weekend and posts those images directly to the site — keeping the visual content authentic, current, and reflective of the fair’s unique character. The Elmvale Fall Fair is, in our view, one of the most picturesque agricultural fairs in the province. Everything has a purpose, and everything is in its right place. It is one of Ontario’s best-kept secrets, and we are proud to help tell its story online.
Reflecting Agency Excellence
This project is a natural expression of WeGo’s deep roots in Ontario’s agricultural fair community. Our hands-on knowledge of how fairs operate — what exhibitors need, what the public looks for, and how societies function — allows us to deliver websites that go well beyond the generic and truly serve the communities they represent.
